Tonight for dinner I heated some olive oil in a skillet and then seared a chicken breast in it. I added half an onion, thinly sliced, and poured in two cups of chicken broth. When the broth was almost all evaporated, I added some grape tomatoes.
I added garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a $%@# load (because 'butt' is a bad word) of basil. HOW IS BASIL SO GOOD.
This is what I've decided. Parsley is useless. I mean, what is it even for? I think it's just for looks. I never notice any taste difference with it. It smells just like those rabbit food pellets. Gross. There are so many better herbs, like mustard, or basil, or rosemary, or oregano. M'mm. So yummy.
I haven't really cooked for a while (dinners have consisted of Tommy's burgers, shrimp tacos from Guru's, cereal, popcorn and sandwiches for a little while now) so this was super nice. I've had the munchies all week and was sooooooo tempted to go to Tommy's again tonight... but man, for some reason that basil really satisfied me. YUM.
I have some pork chops in the fridge that I want to cook tomorrow (that's the secret to eating well at home... get food I have to use before it goes bad!). I was going to just cook them with applesauce and chopped raisins. But now I want to try something new.
Any ideas?
Here's the only picture of the cake I've seen so far... you can't tell from the pictures but the roses were a really pretty green, and there were polka dots all above the ribbon. It came out way shorter than I had planned for. Still looked awesome.
I'm glad I could make something cute enough for Julie to smash all over Dylan's face. Hahaha. That will not be happening at my wedding reception. She was a sickie-poo that evening, so I don't think she even ate any.

It looks beautiful! Can't wait to see more pics.
(By-the-way, try the Italian variety of parsley. I love it on garlic bread.)
Beautiful photograph, even though I *hate* the cake in the face stuff.
You need to try fresh herbs, not dried, especially parsley. I have fresh basil in the garden now. :)
I just purchased cookbook for us. Eating Well Serves Two (or something like that). Cook the pork chops only until just barely done. You might roast some carrots, also. And brown rice is good.
