Big Momma & Lil' John

Rachel, Spec and Glub seriously almost won out. I am not even kidding, those names made me laugh!

But when I saw how the black&yellow fish is smaller and pretty much always follows the bigger white&orange fish, I decided on Big Momma and Lil' John.

It's so funny to watch these two. When I first put them in the bowl I got from DI they were spazzing out going in circles and kept ramming their heads into the bottom/side. Then I read that round bowls give fish migraines (whatever). So I decided to get a bigger! tank for them to share. With a filter!!! I bought a ten gallon tank today. Once home I realized I didn't have anywhere to put it except on the floor. So... that's where it is. I got a little pirate shipwreck and a few live plants to go in there also. Sooooo cute.

Once I transferred the two into their new tank, they were super scared! And just kinda hung out by the ship for about five minutes, not moving. At first I was worried the filter was too strong. Then sloooooowly... BM started to nose around into LJ's rear end (pretty typical, I hope they don't end up having babies) and they started to explore their new digs! Now BM will race all around the mirrored sides of the tank as if she's playing with her reflection. LJ will do the same until BM gets tired and decides to suck on some gravel. If LJ does not follow her, she will swim back up and nudge him until he follows. Not even making this up. Weird weird weird. Who knew fish had personalities?

I will never look at sushi the same way. Yum.

Aaaaaaaand I took in my dead Apollo and exchanged his corpse for a new betta. The manager told me that she just got new bettas in today, so I'm guessing Apollo had been in his little pet store cup for a while, swimming in his own filth.
The new one is more red/purple-ish... and I made sure to get a bigger one so the filter wouldn't bother him. He is swimming around and eating pellets, so I'm not too worried about this one. His name.... is Jimmy Braddock!
Hopefully he lasts because I am running out of boxer names.
