Wedding Cake

Remember that one time I made Julie's wedding cake?

I just found a picture on facebook. In color! Unfortunately, the cake did not turn out as tall as all the other practice cakes... If I remember correctly it was four layers. Four! And still so short. I think it got smashed down because I was trying to smooth the top frosting over the skewers. Sigh. I probably could have used a thinner ribbon and made it look taller, but oh well. The cupcakes were super cute but I don't think I have any pictures of those.

I loved the green roses on top!

Pretty anti-climactic huh. I know it doesn't look that impressive, just keep in mind it was crusting buttercream and perfectly smooth. Not fondant, and not that super soft egg-white icing that you can just scrape smooth with a hot knife. Also, I spent the day babysitting at the temple. Now that I (sort of) know what I'm doing, it would be fun to experiment with multiple tiers and different shapes.

Here's another one of Cleo and I making Hugh & Emily's cupcakes for the open house:

Woo hoo! Does anyone have any pictures of the actual cupcakes???

The cake looks wonderful... I like the smoothness and 2 colors. You'll have to bake again when you come down next time.

I've been trying to get the photos from my sis-in-law for, well, 6 months, and still nothing. Kind of frustrating. But I know she did take pictures of the cupcakes, so whenever I get those photos, you will too :)
