This is incredible. A white guy learning Chinese opera! The Chinese have a very rich history of opera but holy cow, it's nothing like western. The article mentions improvisation and audiences cheering through the pieces... like American jazz.
Check out the video of Thomas Glenn in his lesson. His frustration make me laugh. Poor guy! Tian is very ambitious. I'd love to read his memoirs.
