Today was interesting

I started my new job today. It's great. Except everyone is taller than me. That's going to be interesting.

All of the ladies went out to lunch with our senior clerk. It was her birthday today. As we were climbing back into the car to head back to the store, I noticed I had missed a call an hour ago (about 2pm) from the Provo sales manager. Weird. So I called him back, but he didn't answer.

Then as I was leaving AF, the processing manager informed me that I was supposed to be at the Provo store today at 2. He didn't know why. Then the store manager walked out of his office and said Provo had had a goodbye party for me. They were supposed to tell him when it was going to be, but... apparently nobody got around to doing that.

And you know. It didn't surprise me. Because that's something the assistant should have done. It just so happens the assistant was me.

And then after work I went to my local Smith's Food and Drug to fill a couple of prescriptions.
While I was waiting, one of the Pharmacists started yelling at some lady. He said she was trying to do something illegal and lying about the other Smith's stores and she said he was being a jerk. He said he wasn't doing it to be a jerk, he was doing it to feed his family and not lose his license.

You know, most times people aren't lying. Usually there are just big misunderstandings and miscommunications.

Anyway, they were both yelling up a storm and it was awkward and embarrassing.

So when I went to pick up my prescriptions I told the Pharmacy Tech that I thought his behavior was inappropriate.

What did she say?

"Well, it's hard. We get customers like that all the time."

"It doesn't matter. It was really inappropriate."

"I'll let him know."

No she won't, because neither of them care and if she did tell him, he would probably just yell at her.

If they do get customers like that all the time, you would think he would be pro at dealing with them. You know. Deescalating the conflict and all that.

So when I came home I called their CS manager. I hope he gets a whoopin'.

I mean, really. I deal with immature employees all day. I don't need that when I come back into the real world.

And then before I paid I saw that they wanted to charge me $66 for a month long prescription. That's like, more than two bucks per day. And I have a card thingy that says I won't have to pay more than $24 for it. But I left it at home because my doctor told me it would be pretty unlikely that anyone would ask me to pay more than $24.

Oh, Smith's.

Of course, Shelly the Pharmacy Tech didn't know how to cancel the transaction. In fact, nobody did. When I suggested charging my card and then crediting it back she said, "Oh no, we can't do that. Then you would get charged."

No duh.

So after about seven more minutes of standing there waiting while she called what felt like 43689 people and asking them what to do, someone finally told her to charge the card and then credit it back.

I will not be going back to that pharmacy.

And now I am going to practice Spanish with my Rosetta Stone.

Happy Birthday Mom & Dad!

Ha! I bet the guy was doctor shopping with the Schedule II drugs!! Or maybe I have been working with a "special" population too long!

Good Luck with the new job!
