After Lil' John died, I decided Big Momma looked more like a dude. So I rechristened him "Oscar." For the last few days he has seemed kind of bored and lonely, so today I bought him a buddy!
He is a black moor, about twice the size of Oscar. I have named him "Glub." :-) It suits him very well!
Glub already had a nice little piece missing from one of his big tail fins. Pretty sure Oscar the Grouch took a bite out of him! Hopefully Oscar will realize that Glub is not food.
These two are so weird. They both will chase the other around the tank. And not in a playful way. It really looks like they don't like it. But now that they've been together for a few hours, whenever Glub starts sucking on the gravel, Oscar will burrow under him and try to get the same rocks away from Glub. What a pest!
I have pictures. I know you're dying to see my babies (so pathetic, I know) so I will post them tomorrow.

Aren't betta fish are also known as "Siamese fighting fish"? When we bought some a few years ago the pet store told us to keep them separated or they would attack each other. They don't play well with others. This is not going to end well for Glub, I predict.
No no no no! OSCAR is a common goldfish. My beta, (renamed Alpha) is in his own 1.5 gallon tank. But I bet he would love to have Glub for lunch, he is a fatty.
Yes GLUB! haha
